The Inertia

New Zealand is one of the most fascinating places in the world. Maybe it’s because this is a corner of the globe that’s a relatively new settlement for man. Or maybe it’s the diverse landscapes, from some of the most beautiful snow covered mountains in the world to rugged coastlines littered with waves. Either way it’s hard not to carry that exotic, final frontier sentiment toward the two of the world’s most beautiful islands.

But if you surf, well, New Zealand has an even stronger draw. It’s almost a shame that so many miles of surfable coastline create waves that are never ridden, because there just aren’t enough people to surf here. Not that you’re too bummed if you ever spend time on the North or South Island, getting shacked out of your mind in relatively uncrowded lineups. Crowded or not, watch this video and try to fight the urge to look up airfare to New Zealand within the next 30 minutes. It’s not as easy as you think.
