Italo Ferreira sent Gabriel Medina packing after the quarterfinals of the Moche Rip Curl Pro. That opened the door for the rookie Brazilian to possibly one up his fellow countryman and defending world champ. Joe Turpel got a good look at it. He called it gigantic (seen at the 6:00 mark above). It was so big, so impressive, that it might have forced us to overlook the 10 Felipe Toledo whipped out in the same heat (seen at 1:00).
“That’s what he needed to do, Joe. Just let it all hang out,” Pottz replied, estimating it to be somewhere in the range of 10 feet! They both suggested it’s the biggest we’ve seen all year, immediately comparing to the goods Medina had bared for the world to see only weeks prior. In that Round 4 heat in France, Medina was praised because his was “as clean as a whistle.”
Very impressive in its own right, but was it bigger? Gabriel added the exclamation point upon revealing his pride and joy, hands confidently on those hips as if to say “Yep, that’s alllll me. Take a good look.” But words like “massive,” “gigantic,” and “huuuuuuge” spilled out of Turpel’s and Pottz’ mouths in Portugal, jaws still on the floor. Yes, Italo just became a man right before our very eyes, challenging the prowess of the suave, hairless Medina as he defends his alpha status and stands within reach of a second title. No doubt they’re absolutely the biggest we’ve seen all year. And neither man need be intimidated by the size of the other, but it’s worth pulling out the yardsticks and having ourselves a good old fashioned air reverse measuring contest.
What did you think we were referring to, you perv?
But seriously, whose is bigger? Size matters on the Tour.
