You know the Porcella brothers. If not by name, you know them by wipeouts. Originally from the large Italian island of Sardinia, the brothers now call Maui home. Niccolo, of course, is the owner of perhaps the worst Teahupoo wipeout ever, which you have probably seen a thousand times. Still, though, it’s worth watching again–although it’s in the video above–because it is so much worse than 99.9 percent of the wipeouts you’ve ever seen.
Since Francisco Porcella is no slouch when it comes to getting drilled, either, it seems that it runs in the family. Not just getting drilled in the normal sense–he’s getting drilled on unimaginable levels. Here he is at Jaws… this clip is also in the video above, but it deserves its own spotlight.
While the Porcellas take some serious beatings, it’s all part and parcel of the big wave game. Like Lindberg said, “a life without risk isn’t worth living.” They manage the risk and score harder than anyone else… but there’s another saying worth heeding: “If you’re gonna dine with them cannibals, sooner or later, darling, you’re gonna get eaten.”
