Editor’s Note: “Spot Snapshot” is a new series that highlights an image and explains what you’d never know by simply looking at it. As the cliché goes, “a picture is worth 1000 words.” Every week, a featured photographer will bring you both.

This photo is my favorite, and I remember the day really well. It was taken down at Burleigh Heads and I didn’t have a tripod or anything.

That day, my mum, brother and I were supposed to get up super early to go shoot, but my alarm didn’t go off. I didn’t wake up until at least 10:00. When I finally awoke, I freaked out because I knew the surf was good, so we drove down to Burleigh.

I remember running back from one spot to another. As I was running back from around the corner, this wave formed up, and it was such a beautiful wave. I was just so lucky I had gotten there in time and ran down through the trees and onto the rocks.
