In a holding period, the stoke for Red Bull Cape Fear continues to flow. From meeting the outsiders to shooting the sh*t with the locals, a lot of the surfing community is ready for this to go off. Now we get a glimpse of the heats’ fight card format. Imagine: Mark Mathews vs. Shane Dorian; Jamie O’Brien vs. Ryan Hipwood.
But the best potential card? We’d have to say Bruce Irons and Koby Abberton. Abberton even invokes their last session, at a Code Red Teahupo’o, where the Kauaian walked away with the best wave of the day. But perhaps surfing at a (relatively) home break will give the Bra Boy the upper hand this time.
