Andre Botha did something we’d all like to believe any surfer would do when a life is one the line. He swam into the impact zone of one the most dangerous waves on the planet, grabbed a lifeless body, and hung onto that body for dear life. He didn’t let go until safety personnel and other surfers were able to get an unconscious Evan Geiselman onto dry land. He administered mouth to mouth in the water, taking white wash on the head and no doubt tumbling around under the surface of the water, taking a beating of his own. Andre Botha saved a life.
This video proves that Evan Geiselman probably would not be with us today if Andre Botha hadn’t done all these things. A minute and ten seconds pass in this edited clip before another person gets to them, and even in this cut down version that seems like an eternity.
