With the recent run of swell came a pumping day of surf at the 2014 Mavericks Invitational at Half Moon Bay, California. South African hellman Grant “Twiggy” Baker won the event with a final heat score of 29.33, logging a perfect 10 and a back up of a 9.33.
All the accoutrements of a solid big wave session could be found in yesterday’s festivities as huge surf, steep drops, brutal wipeouts and glorious rides were in abundance. The 2014 Big Wave World Tour is in full swing this season and next up is the Seatka Pro in Oregon. The waiting period ends March 31.
