Leave it to the French to find inspiration in abstract philosophical concepts. In RVCA’s “Inspired by…” series, professional longboarder and frenchwoman Margaux Arramon-Tucoo admits she draws inspiration from the “ephemeral space of time”– an answer that’s much further in the clouds than the people, places, or concepts referenced by the likes of Ellis Ericson, Greyson Fletcher, and others.
“I am inspired by… the moments that die and are reborn through the way they make us feel,” she says. “The wind blowing, a warm feeling, a certain light, a certain color.” Deep.
It’s so meta, it feels almost inauthentic. But, lest we forget France is home to some of the greatest philosophers and writers of the 20th century. Existentialism was and is an entire movement that embodied the “meh” attitude before “meh” was a thing!
So, maybe philosophy flows through Margaux’s veins because of her country of origin. At the very least, it’s much more interesting to unexpectedly ponder the impermanence of life with this short clip than be subject to 1 minute of your standard run-of-the-mill marketing campaign.
