When compared to last year’s Tahiti Pro, Teahupo’o has been rather disappointing so far. With only two days remaining in the contest window, shifty winds and mediocre swell seem to be sticking around much longer than everyone hoped for. But that didn’t matter to Cj Hobgood, who recently announced his retirement from professional surfing. In his Round 3 matchup with World No.2 Julian Wilson, Cj miraculously exited an impossible barrel section, blowing the minds of all who bore witness. The reward for his Houdini-like exit? A perfect 10, and one The Inertia believes was well-deserved. Please don’t go, Cj. We’ll miss this.
