I came across the idea of using drones for aerial photography from a surf trip to Bali, Indonesia. That’s where I thought of it and wanted to start filming from above. I started shooting Pipeline with a drone because it’s right down the beach from where I live, and it’s the best. This new perspective wasn’t possible just a few years ago, and for everyone to see it now is just unreal to them. This perspective allows you to understand and appreciate surfing even more. I used a quadcopter and the Gopro Hero3+. I never thought I would be doing this today. I’m just opening doors and seeing where it takes me.
