Round 2 of the Billabong Pipe Masters saw some extremely heavy conditions with solid swell out of the NNW. With sort-of-tricky conditions and some of the larger sets reaching into the double to triple overhead range, directors decided to put the contest on hold in the early afternoon. There was, however, dozens of gems that rolled through that likely made contest directors second guess their decision. With only a few more days in the contest window and a meager surf forecast – was it such a wise decision to put the contest on hold?
