Mark Healey is the man. He charges enormous waves while never taking himself too seriously, and is always looking forward to the next adventure — whether that’s a massive swell, riding great white sharks, or hunting giant wild boar. Seems like a good life. An adrenaline-inducing, blood-pumping, never-knowing-if-you’ll-make-it-out-the-other-side life for sure, but a good one nonetheless.
Anyway, we recently caught up with one of our favorite big wave riders to talk his role in ESPN’s Big Wave Hellmen series (alongside fellow chargers Shane Dorian, Greg Long, Grant “Twiggy” Baker, and Ryan Hipwood), his logic in doing the insane, and an uncontrollable impulse to surf behemoths.
