Sharks are everywhere these days. Crashing lineups, shutting down contests, in bed with your wife… Next thing you know they’ll be taking your job, especially if you’re a surfboard shaper. This local shark shaper brought his most high performance design down to the Hurley Pro at Trestles, and to say things didn’t go his way is a towering understatement.
The shark’s only dream was to get his prototype under the feet of (at the time) world number one, Adriano de Souza, but the WSL wasn’t too stoked on the idea. At all. The struggle is very real if you’re an unknown shaper and/or shark. Here’s the telling story of an aspiring shaper’s dreams shot down by the WSL in a blazing ball of fire.
