Laird’s “Millennium Wave” was the most ground-breaking single ride in surfing. With just a few boats in the water, I was lucky enough to have witnessed the moment. I was shooting film with my Canon A2 and with a second hand 300 f4.0 at 4 frames per second. Crazy to think we didn’t have insta-check to see if you had it. I had to lug the film back to Hawaii and cross my fingers at the lab.
