Mt. Bachelor is a pretty special place. The reasons are many, not the least of which is that one of surfing’s greatest treasures, Gerry Lopez, calls the mountain home. As does Gerry’s son, Alex, who shreds just as hard on snow as his dad did in the water. In this cool piece from the peeps at Mt. Bachelor, the Lopez family talks about their love of their home resort near Bend. And it was filmed in pretty prime snow conditions so father and son can show off the beauty of ripping untracked snow.
“People often ask me, ‘well, why didn’t he grow up a surfer,'” says Lopez about Alex. “He grew up a snowboarder. Honestly the very first time he took off down the hill he had a style that he still has. For any parent that’s the greatest thing in life is to have their child have that passion about anything.”
