A change.org petition protesting the captivity of dolphins at a resort hotel in Bali has gone viral. A month ago surfer Craig Brokensha started the petition after coming across a 10×20 meter pool at the Wake Bali Adventure Park near the Komune Resort. In the pool lived four dolphins, held as a tourist attraction for guests to enjoy the “dolphin experience.” Within a month’s time the petition had grabbed the attention of Kelly Slater, Entourage actor Adrian Grenier and model Sheridyn Fisher amongst its more than 300,000 signees supporting the dolphins’ release. Singer Leona Lewis is another popular voice to spread the word, via Twitter:
Brokensha’s original goal for the petition was to reach 500,000 signatures. Wake insists that even with the growing voice against them their dolphin show is approved by the local government. Brokensha says he’s lobbying Indonesia’s Environment Minister, adding “You can’t ignore 300,000.”
