The Inertia

The United States was supposed to get its first Wavegarden surf park in April of 2016. But, more than three months behind the initial schedule, NLand Surf Park has yet to open its doors. Even rain has stepped in the path of the Austin, Texas park, pushing the announced opening to summer – another deadline that is passing us by the day.

The newest snag in their plans is an unwanted court appearance. NLand Surf Park announced on their Facebook this week they’re being sued by the Travis County Commissioners. They shared this in their announcement:

NLand will not open until we can assure our guests the park will meet the highest standards for quality and safety. We are disappointed the county commissioners would take such drastic measures, without explanation.

Moving past the bad news for NLand, they gave surfers something to get a little excited about when the post featured something surfers have been waiting to see: a barreling wave.

On a positive note, Surf Texas photographer Kenny Braun captured this image of one of our first waves and we wanted to share it.

So there it is, the first proof Wavegarden can pump out barrels. This wave just became worth the wait.
